Well, it is the new year, and like normal it is a time when a lot of us take a minute to reflect on the past year.
My husband Larry, learned in late August, that a life with ALS was his future. It has been difficult to come to grips, and begin the adaptation process But I realized the other day, that with as much bad and negative that comes along with being touched by ALS, there was something good that happened to me.
Although I have always tried to be fair to all, and not make fun of others less fortunate, I realized that on occasion, I had been willing to jump on someone else's band wagon on occasion though, by chuckling at their comments. Never the one to make the comment, but usually willing to laugh.
I now speak out to those that make fun of others, because my husband is one of those being made fun of. One never knows the circumstance that has gotten others to the point they are, whether they are different physically, emotionally, or mentally.
