Applying for Social Security Disability

This is obviously a government operation. I spoke with a representative of the local SS office, and she said there was no reason for Larry to apply, since he is still working full time. I am ok with that, and with a little prying and prodding, I finally got the "as long as he doesn't make over $1000/mo he would apply.

I just spoke with a representative from the Social Security office, and was told that you can apply at any time. You do not have to wait until you stop working to do so, and so until you quit working, it is treated as an income offset. In other words, if you apply, get approved, and want/can still work, then your 5-6 month wait for payment will take place while you are working, and when you stop working, then the benefit kicks in right away.
